I hope my momentum carries me through the winter school break when a lot of families, and most all of my close friends, will be in the mainland with their own families. Thank goodness our church asked me to help coordinate a Christmas dinner for families that are remaining here at school. :) Having another activity to do will keep my mind and heart distracted from its inevitable heartache. bittersweet. That's what it is. To come to know and love and admire so many wonderful people here at BYU-Hawaii. Only to have them eventually leave :( It is sad, but I cannot tell you how much I have learned from my friends and neighbors here. I have had good and bad experiences. A lot of the good has shown me who I want to be. A lot of the bad has shown me who I am, and what I need to work on. All of that is actually GOOD!!! :)
Tonight I did a Family night making Gingerbread houses. I originally thought I could just invite a few families that are my older closer friends, or friend of my friends, The Neads, who are moving back home. I was gonna provide everything so I knew I couldn't make it too huge. But then I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that they were welcome, and that I wanted everyone I knew to come! Imagine my heart with just arms open just begging everyone to come into it ... (sorry that got weird didn't it? I know)... but you know what I mean. I ended up posting it on our ward website, but i don't know if many people go on there, or even know who I am...? so no random people came (darn it!!) But I say 7 different families was good (17 kids I think)!! so good! it was fun, with music and decorating and food and friends and family.
Tonight I was in heaven :)
Whose child is this? weirdo kiddo

Poor Zoia, she just got hurt then cried so much she barfed... not an awesome way to start the night, but she was happy by the time it ended :) thankfully!!
of course Brett is such a turd he won't look up for a family photo! turd!! everyone else looks so so cute!!
So I decided that next time I do something like this, specifically w/ gingerbread (eh hum, graham cracker) houses... I will do a set for the MEN, and then a separate one for the kids. Seriously, go back and look at how into it that Dads are. They were not messing around. There was some serious though and construction no-how going into each house.... one built a deck upstairs... some went for non-traditional... anyway, I think the men would love this in true competition between each other, and the kids kinda just wanted to stick stuff where ever and make a gooey mess out of it... so it's decided. Next year, FHE, same thing... Men get there own place, and kids have pre-made simple houses, that are ready for crazy kid decorations.
It was so much fun! Thanks for everyone who came (I'm sorry I didn't specifically and personally invite more people, I wanted everyone!) and thanks for everyone's help! :) Tonight was a great night :)
Merry Christmas people - only 12 more days!!!! YAY!!!
